“Must’ve brought my roommate’s computer by mistake”
Graphics mix-up at Gorillaz live show results in hour-long Hentai musical.
Let’s hope Eugene Gregorious doesn’t bring his work home with him.
The Director of Visual Effects for Scotiabank Arena made a last-minute change in programming during the Gorillaz concert in Toronto last Friday night. The genre-defying virtual band, headed by British multi-instrumentalist Damon Albarn, was replaced on screen by an hour-long compilation of hardcore animated Japanese pornography.
“It’s all just on a file on the computer. Once we realized what was happening they were halfway into ‘Feel Good Inc.’, the crowd was electric, and an adorable schoolgirl was desperately trying to flee the wrath of a twelve-foot cephalopod. You get caught up in the moment.”
There were mixed reactions from the crowd: Shocked parents storming out of the building, covering their children’s eyes and reciting bible verses; couples looking longingly past each other; and sweaty, red-faced, forty-year-old men who seemingly had reached the beginning stages of nirvana.
As for the music, Albarn and crew showed out yet again. After stellar performances of better-known songs like ‘Rhinestone Eyes’ and ‘On Melancholy Hill’, the whole concert seemed to reach a crescendo as the playing of iconic “Clint Eastwood” synchronised perfectly with the orgasms of two classmates painfully discovering each other’s sexuality on a bullet train.
“That’s the beauty of live music,” remarked Gregorious, “it lets us transcend beyond all the superficial stuff in the world. It lets you just sit back and appreciate truly unbelievable porn.”
